Caol Ila
The sleeping giant of the Islay distilleries producing the largest amount of spirit on the island but quite some way. Most of this goes towards the Johnnie Walker blends, most namely the Black Label. From the Gaelic for 'The Sounds of Islay', Caol Ila has often been forgotten as a single malt, but should not be as it produces some great whiskies both peated and un peated. The latter coming in the form of a yearly special release. Caol Ila produces around six and a half million litres of spirit each year from its six stills.
Caol Ila is open to visitors.
